SUMMARY:
David Baltimore graduated from Swarthmore College and Rockefeller University. He became an associate professor of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1968, professor of biology in 1972, and was appointed American Cancer Society Professor of Microbiology in 1973. Baltimore also directed the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research from 1982-1990. In 1975 Baltimore shared the Nobel Prize in Medicine. Baltimore’s papers are primarily professional. His research is documented in laboratory notebooks, research notes on recombiant DNA technology and cancer research, and patents.
