SUMMARY:

Founded in 1896 by Albert Barnes Young, Cling-Surface manufactured dressings to prevent slippage of power transmission belts. During World War II the company produced dubbing for shoes and other leather products for use in the military.  

Organized into seven series: I. Patents and trademarks, 1907- 1947. II. Financial records, 1903-1945. III. Administrative and legal files, 1939-1959. IV. Canadian legal papers, 1901-1909. V. Technical bulletins, sales manuals and advertising, mostly undated. VI. Miscellaneous. VII. Scrapbooks (advertisements, labels and other printed matter). Series III arranged alphabetically; chronological arrangement elsewhere.    

Copyright and patent registrations, ledger and daybook (1903), domestic and foreign sales summaries (1905-1940), reports, contracts, correspondence, photographs and advertising copy.
