SUMMARY:
Continental Inc., was formed in 1945 at the Danbury Airport in Danbury, CT, to develop a “roadable aircraft designed by Robert E. Fulton, the company’s president. The cabin of the Fulton Airphibian was designed to be detached from its fuselage and wings and driven as an automobile. The Airphibian was promoted by the Company as a safe aircraft for the novice flyer. The prototype Airphibian first flew on November 7, 1946. The aircraft never found a place in the light aircraft market. The records include photographs, engineering reports, correspondence, drawings and drawing lists of the Fulton Airphibian.
